Hi Beta Testers,
Following discussions with our valued beta dev community, we're looking at adding more data from our friends at @ABSStats, specifically the ASGS Remoteness Areas off the Remoteness Structure. This addition will help you find the remoteness classifications of addresses from both the 2011 and 2016 national census data.
Your feedback has also provided us with a range of interesting use cases, such as setting delivery prices and estimating travel loading for services. You can assess this data now on the Addresses API in Beta.
The operation returns, for a given
addressId, the ASGS Remoteness Area from the 2011 and 2016 ABS Censuses. This information is also available through the use of the
include parameter. 2011 and 2016 are returned as separate objects.
This data builds understanding on how far from major city centres an address is, which is valuable in determining the delivery costs for goods or services. For example, a business that works with plumbing contractors throughout Australia could factor in the cost of truck roll the local plumber.
